Patricia Payne Chicago IL Death: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia H. Payne Allen, affectionately known as “The Admiral,” on April 10, 2025, at the age of 68. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Patricia was a beacon of strength, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Born on May 15, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, Patricia was the eldest daughter of Robert and Helen Payne. Her early years were marked by a deep sense of responsibility and care for her siblings, traits that would define her throughout her life. She attended the University of Illinois, earning a degree in Education, and dedicated over three decades to teaching in Chicago public schools. Her passion for education and commitment to her students left an indelible mark on the community.

In her personal life, Patricia was a devoted mother to her children, instilling in them the values of kindness, integrity, and resilience. She was also a proud grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. Her love extended beyond her family to her friends and community, where she was known for her generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering support.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Payne. She is survived by her children, Michael Payne of Chicago and Susan David Thompson of Evanston; her grandchildren; her siblings, Michael Payne of Chicago and Susan David Thompson of Evanston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Avenue, Chicago. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, April 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2215 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Chicago Public Schools Foundation in Patricia’s memory.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Patricia’s passing. Her dedication to education and the love she shared with all who knew her are lasting legacies. Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with you.
