Kayla Carter Eden, NC Death: It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kayla N 24, of Eden, North Carolina. Kayla tragically passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, as theicole Carter, result of a car accident. She leaves behind a deep and lasting impact on everyone who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Kayla was born in Eden, North Carolina, on August 25, 2000, to Randy Taylor Snody and Jennifer Slaughter Snody. From the very beginning, she brought light into the world, and her radiant personality quickly became a gift to everyone she encountered. Known for her kindness, her smile, and her heart of gold, Kayla was loved deeply by all who knew her.
As a daughter, she was her Daddy’s “Pumpkin” and her Mama’s “Sunshine”, a nickname that reflected the joy she brought to her family. Her bond with her parents was undeniable. Kayla was a loyal and loving sister to her siblings—Emily Snody, Madalynn Snody, Jacob Snody, Luke Snody, Benjamin Snody, and Nathaniel Snody, all of whom will carry her memory with them forever. She also cherished her special relationships with her extended family, including her siblings Kadence Carter, Haven Carter, Allie Carter, Eli Carter, Autumn Carter, and Josephine Carter, of Stoneville, North Carolina.
Kayla’s love and devotion extended beyond her immediate family. She formed strong connections with those who knew her best—her aunts, uncles, cousins, and especially her grandparents: Roy and Debra Slaughter and Teresa Hundley, all of whom were instrumental in shaping the person she became. Kayla also had a special place in her heart for her great-grandmother, Gladys Gantt, who meant so much to her.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Frank and Effie Snody and her great-grandparents Billy Gantt, Roy Slaughter Sr., Anna Slaughter, and Jimmy and Carleen Hundley, but we take solace in knowing they are now reunited in heaven.
Kayla was known for her hard work and dedication. She worked as a bartender and waitress at Outback Steakhouse in Danville, Virginia, where she touched the lives of many with her friendly personality and warm smile. She had a natural ability to make others feel comfortable, and her work ethic and dedication were evident in everything she did. Her co-workers and the customers she served admired her not only for her work but for the bright, joyful presence she brought into the room each and every day.
Kayla had an infectious spirit that made everyone feel welcome. Her ability to light up a room was unparalleled, and she brought a sense of joy and warmth wherever she went. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and all of her loved ones, and her presence was truly a blessing to those who were lucky enough to know her. Whether it was a shared family dinner, a fun night out with friends, or just a simple conversation, Kayla’s loving spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Kayla was also a person who found happiness in the simple things in life. She was someone who appreciated the beauty of the world around her and found joy in spending time with her family. Her love for her siblings and extended family was evident, and she always made time to create memories that would last forever.
Kayla will forever be remembered for the light she brought into the world. She had a heart that loved fiercely, and her laughter and sense of humor were contagious. The love she shared with her parents, siblings, and all of her family members will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Kayla was a person who cared deeply for the people around her, and her genuine kindness made the world a better place.
In honor of Kayla’s life and the love she gave to all of us, a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, interment will take place at Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ridgeway, Virginia, where Kayla will rest alongside other loved ones. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, two hours prior to the service. We encourage all those who knew Kayla to come and pay their respects, share stories, and remember her spirit that will live on in their hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Boone & Cooke Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. This support will help ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
Kayla’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her, but we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of the Lord, free from pain and suffering. We will forever hold her in our hearts, remembering the joy she brought into our lives and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
